Continuing our monthly JACK! events playing Detroit techno, Chicago house, acid house, deeper tracks and forgotten cuts; this month we have recruited Stuart Mclellan from pioneering UK label Pacific Records.

Stuart Mclellan (Pacific Records / UK)

Stuart started DJing in London in 1990, and in ‘94 he founded Pacific Records label, which would become the defining techno and house label of that generation showcasing artists such like Carl Craig, Charles Webster, Hot Lizard, Ian O’Brien, Mike Dunn and Stacey Pullen.

From there he moved to Paris where he co-ran the infamous Sunday “Cake and Milk” parties, hosting big-name guests like Gilles Peterson, Peter Kruder, DJ Harvey, Rainer Truby, Laurent Garnier, Ivan Smagghe and Pete Herbert. Around the same time, Stuart worked with Pete Herbert for their Pacific Blue parties where they held residencies at Paris’ La Fabrique and Club Deep in Madrid. Continuing to play between Asia and Europe, Stu has garnered a reputation as a DJ's DJ.

London based 'Pacific Records' ran by Stuart Mclellan and Justin Deighton has been championed as one of the more influential labels of that era. Many of the tracks are standing the test of time and are now being re-circulated online by the new wave of house and techno record diggers. Producers and re-mixers that worked with Pacific read like an all-star sports team featuring, Carl Craig, Stacey Pullen, Claude Young, Damon Wild, Dennis Ferrer, Steve Rachmad, Mike Dunn and Mark Broom. The label's consistent, mature, deep sound is still receiving plaudits years down the line, with industry heads mentioning Pacific Records in the same realms as the likes of early Soma and Solid Groove.

Legendary New Yorker Danny Tenaglia and English producer Skream are headed to the Beach Club for a debut show. The party will be hot, heady and going strong till late. But stop by early for sundown sounds from Archie and Seabass as they warm up the decks for this incredible night of grooves.

Danny Tenaglia grew up in the ’70s, listening to classic American soul and disco by musicians like The Trammps and Marvin Gaye. As a teenager, nights dancing to Larry Levan’s rich, genre-less sets at the city’s famed Paradise Garage inspired him to move into music.

Danny’s professional breakthrough came in the late ’80s and early ’90s with residencies at NYC institutions like Twilo and Vinyl, a string of high-profile remixes, and the release of his debut album “Hard & Soul” in 1995. His remix of Depeche Mode's “I Feel Loved” won him a Grammy nomination and his Be Yourself club nights went on to take Dancestar’s Best Party award in 2003 and 2004.

Skream (a.k.a Oliver Dene Jones), a British DJ and producer, is known as one-third of the electronic music project, Magnetic Man, alongside his fellow dubstep pioneers Artwork and Benga.

As a solo artist, he’s released two albums, “Skream!” (2006) and “Outside the Box” (2010), with “Angry” and “Colourful.” Recent collaborators include Kelis, Miles Kane and Chromeo, while his current sets venture into the genres of house, techno and disco.

NAKADIA - one of the world’s very few globally successful female electronic music artists. Fresh from the buzz of that night, Nakadia took turntables home to Thailand and started shaping her craft.

Unguided by other DJs and with no club scene for inspiration, she practiced relentlessly to develop her own sound. It was only when she moved to the Thai island of Koh Samui in 2003 where she came into contact with a small electronic music scene and got some first practice in playing for European tourists. Nakadia’s first years as a DJ were all about the growth of her personal sound and style. By 2004, her first year as a full time DJ, she already performed 55 gigs across 12 countries. Over the next four years Nakadia found herself in the sounds of Deep House, Tech House and Techno. Ever since, this lovely young Thai girl has been bringing her underground sounds to the dance floors of legendary venues like “Watergate“ Berlin, “Cafe D Anvers“ Antwerp, “The Egg“ London, “D Edge“ Sao Paulo, “Lola“ Shanghai, and “Glow“ Bangkok,

With far over 100 high profile bookings across the world each year Nakadia is already going strong.... But these are just the opening chapters of a truly unique career that so far has been nothing short of a musical fairytale.

Urulu, real name Taylor Freels, is a California boy through and through. With an innate talent for sunny, contemplative chords and clever drum programming, he quickly caught the ear of Berlin's Dirt Crew. He'd go on to drop acclaimed releases on respected imprints such as NYC's Let's Play House and Melbourne’s Voyage Recordings, as well as tastemaking outlets such as Needwant, Shabby Doll and Spanish outfit Saft/Pulp. Freels is also a beast on the decks, armed with the chutzpah to mix gnarlier Detroit and Chicago emanations with modern, envelope-pushing house sounds. To that end, he's gathered a tight-knit group of producers for his own label Amadeus, a home which aims to bring it all together. With his label, he's working with Auckland-based scene stormers Chaos In The CBD, LA house zoners Sage Caswell and Cromie and fellow Berlin ex-pat Huerta. As 2017 draws to a close, Urulu is preparing to launch a follow up record for Melbourne mainstay Andy Hart's Voyage Recordings and a couple of new projects with which he can indulge in the dubbed-out club sounds he's become enamored with while living between Los Angeles and Berlin.
