Canggu Club

This perennial family favorite has it all with al fresco dining, a super chilled air-conditioned restaurant and poolside tables that are the bomb for a tropical Christmas celebration. December 25th has been planned for family fun, with a line up of entertainment on top of the permanent water park and quiet lap pool.  A gorgeous traditional Christmas buffet will be front and centre with live music from 1-5pm, a visit from Santa with presents for everyone plus the starlight cinema that starts after the sunsets. Price for non-members is Rp900,000 per adult, Rp580,000 for teens and Rp430,000 for under 12 years old. Prices for members are Rp600,000, teens Rp400,000 and kids Rp250,000.

Peppers Seminyak

Expect an opulent lunch with all of the festive favorites with roasted meats and sweet treats to tempt the taste buds and tickle the Christmas spirit. The Laneway starts its Christmas season on December 24 with classic dishes and chilled cocktails. On Christmas Day the party continues with a big brunch by the pool, live music and a magician who will bring some magic to the event and keep the little ones amazed. A certain large someone in a red suit is set to ‘ho, ho, ho’ his way to the resort. A set menu will be on offer starting at Rp500,000 a head – plus tax. And don’t miss the tropical cocktails created by their in-house mixologists, a great start to the day.

Cocoon Beach Club

Cocoon is the reigning Queen of Bali’s party scene and Christmas is a sensational celebration on their calendar, and the whole family is invited. The head chef has created a festive menu that takes the traditional and adds a tropical twist. Duck breast with pineapple and red rice or char grilled bamboo lobster are offered along with the more traditional rolled turkey.

Kids are entertained with arts and crafts and Santa’s elves will have gifts for the kids. Watch the stilt walkers and visit the playground for the very young. Cocoon’s pool is ready and waiting for a cool down. Post lunch, the restaurant lifts a notch for dinner with guests enjoying tunes spun by the resident DJ’s. Adults are Rp900,000 a head including a glass of Moet et Chandon on arrival. Kids under 12’s are Rp350,000 a head that includes the activities; free flow soft drinks and water.

Jemme

Bling in the festive season with glittering style and an amazing roast at this gem of a restaurant. It has a baby grand piano and choristers singing Christmas Carols on the stairwell. Enjoy egg nog or mulled wine on arrival and full English-style roasts with all the trimmings; from tender green peas, airy light Yorkshire puddings, crisp and fluffy roast potatoes and loads of festive cheer, rounded off with coffee and mince pies. Jemme is such a Christmas institution on the island that it starts its season on December 10 for big groups through to three sittings – at 12, 4pm and 8pm across the 24th, 25th and 26th of December. Copper Restaurant Rooftop

Now for something a little different in arty Ubud. The menu speaks for itself at Bisma 8. The Christmas dinner will start with an amuse bouche of tuna sashimi, wasabi avocado, aioli and coriander; or porcini mushroom arancini with white truffle aioli followed by an entree of beetroot cured salmon with mascarpone, capers, and herbs; or chilled watermelon gazpacho with feta and mint or prawn and crab ravioli with miso butter or pumpkin risotto, chevre, toasted seeds, walnut, and rocket pesto. The main course is duck confit with braised red cabbage, potato fondant, asparagus, foie gras, and pomegranate molasses; or baked snapper fillet with Indian spiced crust and yoghurt dressing; or soft polenta with mushroom ragout and micro cress. Finish up with olive oil cake topped with date syrup and salted white chocolate ice cream. Bisma 8 has pulled out all stops to stun the true gourmet.

Director of cuisine Jack Yoss will recreate the comforts of home on Christmas Even and Christmas Day at Fire where traditional dishes will be given a dash of creative genius. Echo Beach Club

Surf, sand, Santa and super chilled beer are all part of the action at this epic ocean front restaurant. Echo Beach Club is virtually mythical among local surfers and their tribe and Christmas Day will be another excellent episode for this eatery. With a great value price of Rp350,000 a head, diners can make a choice of entrée of seafood Mornay or beef consommé julienne followed by mains of traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, a succulent grilled salmon or roast gammon ham. Desserts are Christmas pudding or bread and butter pudding. Everyone gets a glass of bubbles on arrival.  No shirt, no shoes, no worries.

The Plumbers Arms

Families love this place and so do couples. It’s the chilled vibe of this typical English pub in the tropics that’s cozy comfort where the beer is on tap and the food is delicious and substantial. The Plumbers has a Christmas Day menu that is great value at just RP300,000 per person, including a glass of wine. The festive menu has roast beetroot and goat cheese salad, a prawn and avocado cocktail or purple sweet potato soup and the mains include two classic Christmas roasts; turkey and lamb and both come with roasted veggies and perfect Yorkshire puddings to soak up the gravy. Desserts are apple pie with strawberries and ice cream or bread and butter pudding. Mulled wine and Chandon brut sparkling wine are also in good supply.

Padma Resort Ubud

The Puhu Restaurant at the Padma Resort will stage a five-course epicurean dinner on Christmas Eve from 6pm. Expect to find out why this destination has won awards with a menu that includes beetroot cured salmon, gnocchi with poached scallops and traditional oven baked turkey, chargrilled wagyu beef and desserts such as baked apricot financier, all while enjoying Christmas carols. Rp410,000 per person plus tax. A ‘Suntastic’ tropical dinner will be served in The Puhu on Christmas Day.

The tree is up, the breeze is blowing in across the ocean, floral tributes abound and the soundtrack is peppered with the squeals of delighted children, KuDeTa celebrates Christmas with the family every year. The food rates, the views are the perfect backdrop for family photos and entertainment is on tap for the kids to enjoy in the garden. Diners start off with an amuse bouche of scallop ceviche with ginger and lime kombucha then choose from three entrees including a foie gras torchon with sour cherries and beetroot. The festive main is slow roasted stuffed turkey with fondant potato, brussel sprouts with white wine shallots, bacon and cranberry jus. Vegetarians will adore the ricotta and porcini ravioli. Dessert is a Christmas pudding with Ron Zacap custard and candied fruit.

As the sun starts its journey towards the sea, local band, The Mangrooves will take to the stage with their award-winning blend of soul, funk and R&B, a sure fire way to burn off those extra calories, as these guys are real crowd pleasers.

Mejekawi at KuDeTa

Upstairs in Mejekawi the menu is less traditional starting with pretzels and smoked tuna, fish and chips as tuna ceviche with smoked crème fraiche. Wild ocean prawn salad with a green garlic veloute and black cod cooked over charcoal are on the carte along with pressed roasted duck with burnt butter cabbage and dessert is coconut treacle tart.

This subversive destination dishes up the perfect combo of Christmas brunch and live music creating a cool Christmas event at its Ubud mothership. Chandi has delights in store for Christmas Day when the restaurant opens at 12 and keeps rolling out classic Christmas delicacies and some not so traditional dishes. Be prepared to amaze your mouth.

Settimo Cielo

This is a fabulous Italian restaurant, which produces refined and rustic dishes packed with the flavours of Italy. This expertise is on full display on Christmas Day with a menu that starts with angus and foie gras carpaccio with cranberry and lemon dressing, shaved pear, olive oil and toasted sourdough. They have also crafted a saffron and seafood risotto while the main courses are sage and butter glazed turkey with sage and hazelnut stuffing or porchetta with pate cream sauce, lemon apple jam and shaved fennel salad. While this all sounds divine, the kitchen has coupled Christmas pudding with white chocolate fudge mousse, honeycomb and vanilla mascarpone. Rp450,000 for food, add a further Rp500,000 for wine pairing.
