A Culinary Gem in Ubud
Ramu Kitchen, the much-anticipated forest-to-table restaurant, officially opened its doors on October 10th, 2024, and now graces the rooftop of the chic Titik Dua Ubud Hotel. Open daily from 6 PM to 11 PM, the restaurant offers a remarkable dining experience and an enchanting journey to its entrance via a sleek, futuristic walkway.
As guests step into Ramu Kitchen, they’re enveloped by a blend of lush greenery and innovative architecture. The space is designed for discerning diners seeking a distinctive culinary adventure in Bali. The open layout invites a refreshing breeze to flow through the dining room, creating a comfortable atmosphere as the day transitions to night. As the sun sets, the restaurant is bathed in warm golden light, it’s the perfect setting for an intimate dinner.
The Menu - From forest to table.
A highlight of Ramu Kitchen is the exceptional service; from the warm greeting at the entrance to the attentive staff. This level of hospitality transforms the dining experience, making visitors not merely guests but part of the restaurant’s narrative.
As we settled at our table, we dove into a trio of starters designed to awaken the palate: Lawar Banana Blossom, Dumpling Chili Crab, and Ceviche Blimbi. The Lawar Banana Blossom, a surprising fusion of smoky tuna and rich Balinese spices wrapped in betel leaf, was a revelation. The Dumpling Chili Crab, featuring a gentle sambal kick, is a must-try for those who prefer milder flavours. Meanwhile, the Ceviche Blimbi offered a refreshing zesty cleanse, setting the stage for the main course.
The highlight of the evening was the set dinner menu, presenting an array of dishes including Hibachi Grilled Fish Mangut, Spiced Grilled Chicken, Fried Cuciwi, and Nasi Uduk. At first glance, these dishes may seem traditional, yet Ramu Kitchen breathes new life into comfort food with a modern twist. The catch of the day, featuring local Rainbow Runner Fish, was beautifully tender with subtle flavours. The combination of smoky fish, spiced chicken, and aromatic Nasi Uduk was a wonderful combination of flavours and highlighted the gentle approach to fusion cooking.
Signature Cocktails highlight Balinese Flavours.
To complement the meal, we sampled Ramu Kitchen’s signature cocktails. The Tabia Bun, infused with local Balinese pepper, provided a refreshing counterbalance to the richness of the dishes, and the Salak Negroni showcased the sweet and tangy notes of the local salak fruit, harmonising beautifully with the cocktail’s traditional bitterness.
Wrapping up our dining experience was the dessert, aptly named “Tropical.” This indulgent creation featured silky yoghurt panna cotta dressed with a vibrant fruit compote and a refreshing passionfruit granita. Each spoonful was a perfect finale to an exceptional meal.
Chef Kori Antarayasa, the visionary behind Ramu Kitchen, pours his passion for food into every dish. He believes that cooking is an act of love—a sentiment that resonates throughout the restaurant. As he beautifully expresses, “In Bali, cooking for others is about sharing life, nature, and community.” At Ramu Kitchen, each plate is not only a culinary delight but also a storyteller, forging connections with the rich culture of Bali and its natural beauty.
Ramu Kitchen is a worthy addition to Ubud’s dining scene, where a creative menu meets outstanding hospitality in a striking setting. It’s a place that promises not just a meal, but an experience steeped in love for cuisine and community.
