GOLDUST beauty lounge

GOLDUST beauty lounge is the Queen bee of beauty in bohemian Batu Bolong – Canggu. It also has expertly trained therapists, an uber chilled ambience and deeply comfortable chairs to flop into.

While famed for its 24K GOLD facial – which is actually real gold leaf applied to the face to lift, firm and hydrate the skin while delivering a unique glow – it also offers an arrival package that aims to deliver luminous skin, shiny hair and perfect hands and toes.

Starting off with the GOLDUST signature massage, the therapist then brushes down the body from top to bottom with a magical body brushing. Stimulating the lymphatic systems to expel toxins, this GOLDUST body glow treatment is crafted from brown sugar and coconut milk to revitalise the well-travelled body. After these nourishing treatments you’ll slip into a shimmering gold slip and head into the lounge for hot oil manicure and pedicure while another therapist works on a hair spa, which involves a long and dreamy head massage. To depuff those jetlagged peepers, Goldust performs a GOLD collagen eye treatment that reduces puffiness, dark circles, and tired eyes while boosting collagen production. This package is ace for a new arrival that needs to get into a beautiful holiday balance. The team of therapists are excellent at waxing as well, using a super soft sugar wax that contains no pesticides, hormone disruptors or toxins.

Body Temple

Now this is an elegant hideaway that is perfect for time-deprived parents travelling with kids.  This salon and spa is part of the sprawling Canggu Club – a major family attraction that has restaurants and cafes, a water park, trampoline centre, bowling alley, tennis centre plus Cubby House Kids Club for the little ones who need supervision. Body Temple is tucked below ground in a cool and classic space. It’s a full service spa with a hair salon that specialises in blonde tones, run by an Australian – a native of Bondi’s sassy surf culture.

Body Temple prides itself on training and retaining staff. This maxim is clear when it takes a little less then one hour for their eye lash extension specialist to have you going from polar bear face to opulent eyes framed with distinctive lush lashes. The Australian package they use includes silk lashes with gentle and effective glue. Body Temple also has an intense slimming massage that aims to reduce fluid retention in the belly and legs as well as diminish the look of cellulite. Whip in a classic manicure and pedicure and any crucial waxing and you will be beach ready in a few hours.

The Canggu Club is a great place to use as a departure point particularly if you are flying on a red eye. Luggage will be tagged and stored, transport arranged, meals and snacks prepared to order, showers are available, wifi keeps you in the airline loop and little kids can have down time at Cubby House – where kids have two hours free when Mum and Dad are luxuriating in the spa.

The Shampoo Lounge

This buzzing full service spa, salon and barber in the heart of Seminyak is right on point with service, style and value. Fancy a glass of chilled white wine while having a foot spa. Why not? Even the chairs have bespoke armrests thoughtfully carved to cradle a stemmed wine glass. So far, so fab. It’s Bintang or whiskey for the boys upstairs in the barber that has it’s own man cave for the guys having a ‘sports’ pedicure.

This sassy salon does everything from spray tanning through to hair extensions., make-up, cosmetic tattooing and decorative ink. They even have a private room for people with clingy kids or women in hijab. The sizzling energy here is a fun buzz and the English speaking team are great at service. The Shampoo Lounge Spa has a Jet Lag package designed to refresh travellers from head to toe. It kicks off with a body polish to purge the dead skin cells and liven up skin – it’s super softening too. Then comes a smooth back and shoulder massage and believe me, the therapist finds every knot and the tight muscles that come with carting luggage. Next onto a holistic facial to promote elasticity and calm down the altitude swells. Finish off with that chilled wine and a cooling cucumber and mint foot spa that includes a massage and half leg and foot masque. Imagine floating out of this fun establishment to head straight down to the beach for sun downers and that famous Bali sunset. It’s Rp800,000 for a full three hours of spa magic. Add-ons include Black Magic spray tan from Australian (Rp287,500 net), mink lashes (Rp600,000net), and waxing (starts at Rp85,250 net).

Add a smoothing Keratin hair treatment to conquer Bali’s humidity that can cause hell hair. The good news is that all of these services are available in-villa for free – with the exception of some hair treatments– if you have two or more people.

Bronz – Sydney Bali

Spray tanning is a hot option for those who don’t fancy spending endless hours lolling around in the sun and Bronz certainly knows the tanning game. It’s the go-to salon for in-the-know ex-pats and well-connected travellers. Using the upscale organic line Sun FX – the tan is delivered via an expertly held device that blows air and an incredibly light mist. It dries in a snap with the help of air jets located in the floor of the special tanning pod. Wash it off a few hours later and voila – the luminous tan of a healthy tennis player is upon you. . This spray tan virgin – well, for the past dozen years – is a convert. The colour continues to develop for 24-hours or so but at no stage was it streaky, uneven or undesirable. Replicating nature’s more dangerous UV game can be done. Even the palms of your hands are lightly touched with Vaseline so that tell tale signs of a duff tan is done away with in a flash. The tan was proceeded by a beautiful coconut body scrub that exfoliated the skin so the tan lasts longer and goes deeper. The silky results were pretty special. Top this off with some medium length silk eyelash extensions and you’ll exit the small Batu Belig salon with an awesome vacay style look that has you holiday ready in a tad over two hours.  Bronz uses outstanding glue that cause zero eye irritation, which can sometimes be the downside of luscious faux lashes. This operator also delivers a rare thing: a mani-pedi while under the steady hands of the lash lady. Old polish is whipped away, nails are filed and buffed and new polish applied all while dozing to very chilled music. Staggeringly priced at RP790,000. Add-ons include Rp200,000 for a mini facial or full mani-pedi.
