Celebrating Australia Day in Bali
Time to get wet, down a few beers, enjoy the sunshine and sing along to all your favourite Aussie tunes. Where do we recommend you celebrate the spirit of the land of the forever smiles? Read on for our top picks.
The annual barbecue at Peppers Seminyak has become an institution for many local and visiting Australians as they play out a soundtrack of Triple J’s hottest 100 songs countdown. The party centres around their fabulous pool with live cricket coverage beaming through, beers, bubbles and some great Australian specials on the menu. We pigged out on the sausage rolls and pies last year and we’re heading back for more, while the barbie will be catching a snag or two. January 26 is the date, from midday to sundown, when the action moves to The Laneway and their cheeky cocktail bar.

Plumbers Arms, Echo Beach, Scallywags Gili T and Gili Air
What goes down a treat with the coldest beer in town at our fave local pub? Why a barbie of course. The Plumbers Arms is turning up the volume on all things Australian, and there might be a dodgy pom to share a laugh with. Savour the flavour of their old fashioned Aussie BBQ with snags, steaks, burgers alongside some lite options for their dietary-wise clients. Expect a healthy soundtrack of favourites from their resident DJ Ary, who will be otherwise disposed at Echo Beach. Echo Beach’s champion DJ will be spinning the hits as the seafood and steaks hit the grill at this Canggu insitution. Watch the surfing live at no extra cost. Don’t miss out on the parties at Scallywags, Gili T and Gili Air if you’re over Lombok way where the barbie is king and the beach is bloody beautiful.
